About Me


Dr. Janet Ronsky has made significant contributions to research and education in biomedical engineering. Her early research accomplishments were recognized with a Canada Research Chair in Biomedical Engineering awarded in 2001 and renewed in 2006. Currently, she holds the Alberta Innovates iCORE Strategic Chair in Advanced Diagnostics and Devices. Dr Ronsky has driven many biomedical engineering research and technology development initiatives, including establishing the Centre for Bioengineering Research and Education (CBRE). She is a member of numerous professional organizations,  and served as the NSERC Canada Mechanical Engineering Group Chair (2013-2017). She is also an outstanding teacher with several teaching excellence awards. Her biomechanics research has led to novel imaging infrastructure and approaches sought globally. Janet’s leadership with Zymetrix Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering Technology Development Centre has resulted in several innovations and spin out companies, including a patent and commercial product with BOSE ESG (now TA Instruments).
