About Me

Dr. Jan Oleszkiewicz is a Distinguished Professor at the University of Manitoba and an international leader in the science and engineering of water pollution control. His ground breaking research on nitrogen removal through bio-augmentation led to the commissioning in Winnipeg of North America's first full scale facility based on this type of technology. The process that Dr. Oleszkiewicz developed reduces the cost of wastewater treatment by millions of dollars. His expertise is sought internationally and he has contributed to wastewater and biosolids master plan activities for wastewater systems in cities in both North America and Europe. He serves on the advisory board of several engineering consulting companies in Canada, Poland and USA.
