John Floras is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology, University of Toronto. From 2004 to 2018 he held the Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Integrative Cardiovascular Biology. He pursues innovative patient-oriented translational research into circulatory and cardiac control mechanisms with therapeutic implications for conditions as diverse as hypertension, heart and kidney failure, diabetes and sleep apnea. Regarded internationally as a leading expert on hypertension, Dr. Floras has also broken new ground with collaborative work on the prevalence of obstructive and central sleep apnea in cardio vascular conditions. His service to the profession has been recognized widely, including the CIHR-ICRH Distinguished Lectureship in Cardiovascular Sciences.
