Brawley, Lawrence

About Me

As a Canada Research Chair, Dr. Brawley's research examines why some people successfully adopt physical activity as a healthy lifestyle change, while others struggle. Understanding the psychology of this change is essential to help people sustain the activity needed to promote health and prevent diseases. To this end, he has developed novel groupmotivated interventions that successfully encourage individuals to maintain changes in their physical activity. Dr. Brawley has served on the Board of the Canadian Fitness and Lifestyle Research Institute for 20 years, helped develop Canada's public health guidelines for physical activity, and consulted widely throughout North America.
