Professor Marquez is a world-class expert in robust and nonlinear filtering and control. His research has been well recognized by the international peer community and has made impact in the oil and gas industry in the Northern Alberta region. During his leadership as Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), his Department grew from mid-size to one of the largest research intensive ECE departments in the country. He has provided effective service as President of the Canadian Chairs and Heads of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the US ECE - Department Heads Association, and Chair of NSERC Grant Selection Committees. He is a Fellow of EIC (Engineering Institute of Canada) and IET.
