Allan Becker is Professor and Head of the Section of Allergy & Clinical Immunology, Department of Pediatrics & Child Health at the University of Manitoba. He is among Canada’s premier academic pediatric allergists and is nationally and internationally recognized for pioneering studies in early childhood asthma and allergies. He has made seminal contributions to allergy and asthma research and education, including an influential asthma education program across Canada, and highly cited research into gene-environment interactions in the development and prevention of allergic diseases and asthma, through the well-known SAGE (Study of Allergy, Genes & Environment) and CAPPS (Canadian Asthma Primary Prevention Study) birth cohorts. His accomplishments have impacted the scientific community, health educators and, importantly, patients and their families.
