About Me
Paul Santerre has made pioneering contributions to the science and practice of biomaterials, leading to enhanced recognition of blood compatibility issues associated with biomaterials and their biodegradation and wound healing response to white blood cells. This has yielded patented technologies used in engineering new replacement tissues for vascular grafts, mucosal tissues and spinal discs, and introduced new concepts leading to commercial products used in clinics today. As Director for two Institutes across Dentistry, Medicine and Engineering, he has directed transformative initiatives in dental sciences and biomedical engineering across the University of Toronto Health Sciences campus and with its affiliated hospitals.
