Professor at Université Laval, Burroughs Wellcome Scholar in Molecular Parasitology, and Director of the Infectious Disease and Immunity Division of the CHU de Quebec Research Center. Dr. Barbara Papadopoulou is a world leader in the field of parasitic diseases, Leishmania gene regulation and pathogenesis. Her work has direct relevance to human health, as leishmaniasis is one of the major parasitic diseases worldwide with limited treatment and no vaccine available. Research in her laboratory has contributed significantly to the development of novel anti leishmanial vaccine strategies. Her internationally recognized leadership, impressive research accomplishments and collaborations, and her thorough mentorship have significantly advanced the academic health sciences.
