About Me


Dr. John Marshall is Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto and a Scientist at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at St. Michael's Hospital. His research work focuses on critical illness and uses methodologies ranging from fundamental biology through to clinical trials and to large scale epidemiological studies. He is internationally recognized for his contributions to our understanding of sepsis and was one of the first to recognize and document how the host response to infection and inflammation defines outcome in the critically ill patient. Dr. Marshall is the past Chair of the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group, an active member of innumerable academic societies and a highly sought after plenary speaker at international Symposium and academic
institutions.
