About Me
Dr. Rita Kandel is a clinician-scientist at Mt. Sinai Hospital who conducts leading-edge research that utilizes regenerative medicine approaches to develop novel treatments for arthritis and back pain. She has published over 195 papers and obtained or submitted applications for 6 patents. She has been continuously funded by peer review grants for over 20 years. In addition to her productive research program, Dr. Kandel works as a pathologist and is the head of her clinical department. As a Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto, she is active in teaching, training and mentoring the next generation of pathologists
and researchers.
