Levy, Emile

About Me

Doctor Levy is a world leader in the field of lipoprotein and lipid absorption / transport from the intestinal tract. His early work on inherited disorders of lipid absorption such as chylomicron retention disease and abetalipoproteinemia led him to study the molecular and cellular biology of cholesterol and fat transport and their eventual contribution to obesity and to cardiovascular disease. Other major contributions include identifications of genetic and basic defects leading to a better understanding of several intestinal diseases and of the role of oxidative stress and of omega-3 fatty acids on lipid and cholesterol transport. His research has been funded without interruption by IL MRC/CIHR for more than 30 years. He holds the J.A de Sève Chair in Nutrition. He has more than 270 refereed papers and has trained close to 100 grad students and post-docs.
