About Me


Dr. Philip Berger has a distinguished history as a defender of human rights. He is a founding member of the Amnesty International (English) Canadian Medical Network, the Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture and the Toronto HIV Primary Care Physicians Group. He was the first team leader in 2004 for OHAfrica, a project that twinned Canadian health care professionals with an AIDS clinic in Lesotho. As chief for 15 years of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at St. Michael's Hospital he has built it up to be one of the premier departments of its kind in Canada.
