Edward McRoberts of WSP Canada. is a specialist in the application of geotechnical concepts and methods to heavy civil construction, pipeline, mines and frontier energy projects in Western Canada and in Arctic regions.  He authored over 50 significant technical publications on geotechnical, permafrost and mining related topics as well as contributing to a major textbook on Arctic engineering.  Dr. McRoberts' innovative design efforts have been of particular significance in the oil sands industry, leading to improved mining and tailings management procedures and in arctic and pipeline engineering.  His mentoring of young engineers in professional practice is particularly noteworthy.
