Baker, Ross

About Me

Dr. G. Ross Baker was the principal investigator of the Canadian Adverse Events study, which laid the groundwork for patient safety research, policy and system changes in Canada. He has carried out research on team communication, patient safety culture and other factors influencing safe practice. Dr. Baker adapted the framework for the “balanced scorecard” performance reporting framework for hospitals later implemented in Ontario through the “Hospital Report” project. His work on high performing healthcare systems published in 2008 has been presented in Europe, England, Australia and the US. More recent work on governance for quality and patient safety has influenced legislation in Ontario and led to a pan-Canadian program for health care boards.
