Dr. Richard Kim, Professor of Medicine at the University of Western Ontario, is an acknowledged leader in the field of pharmacogenomics and the application of pharmacogenomics technologies to the delivery personalized medicine-based care to our patients.Dr. Kim holds the Wolfe Medical Research Chair in Pharmacogenomics at Western. He was the first in Canada to start a personalized medicine clinic, focused on drugs such as warfarin, statin class of lipid lowering drugs, and the breast cancer drug tamoxifen. He is also applying personalized medicine approaches for the prevention of adverse drug reactions. Dr. Kim's pioneering work has already resulted in translation of innovative research to better patient care right here in Canada.
