Dr. Naus, a Tier I CRC and Director of the Life Sciences Institute at UBC, has advanced academic health sciences through promotion of the interdisciplinary goals of this multi-Faculty, multi-Department research unit, dedicated to discovery research in biomedical and health sciences. As former Head of three Departments (Anatomy & Cell Biology, Physiology, and Cellular and Physiological Sciences), he has advanced the research and teaching in health sciences at UBC, and promoted cooperation between the Faculties of Medicine and Science to nucleate the development of UBC Cell Biology teaching and research programs. He is an internationally leader in gap junction biology, his research impacting human diseases including stroke, brain cancer and neuro-developmental defects.
