Through his seminal discoveries, phenomenal publication record and numerous international collaborations, Dr. Steven Narod has become a world- leader in the field of breast/ovarian cancer genetics. Dr. Narod has found that 50% of Ontario women with BRCA1/2 mutations are not eligible for provincially funded genetic testing – particularly notable since he has also shown these cancers to be preventable with medication and surgery. Dr. Narod is now pinpointing dietary options that modify risk, to prevent some cancers in women unwilling to undergo surgical removal of their breasts and ovaries. Dr. Narod’s H-factor is 84, and his productivity continues to increase.
