Kipp, E. Walter

About Me

Walter Kipp’s primary interests have been infectious diseases since his appointment as Medical Director in Mbale, Uganda 1981/82. Armed with only a medical degree, his desire to know more about international health led him to complete graduate degrees in epidemiology from the University of Hawaii in 1986 and international health from Johns Hopkins in 1998. Since joining the University of Alberta in 1997 he has designed and implemented graduate programs in global health. The results of Dr. Kipp’s most recent applied research project show that anti-retroviral treatment can be successfully delivered to HIV/AIDS patients in rural Uganda using locally trained volunteers.
