The mission of the High Country Breast Cancer Foundation is to support breast cancer patients, survivors, and their families in the High Country of North Carolina.  While many wonderful organizations hold events locally, some of the money they raise in the High Country is usually taken out of our communities and used elsewhere.  We are an all-volunteer organization and 100% of the funds the Foundation raises goes directly to breast cancer patients in the High Country. The Foundation holds an annual 5K Walk/Run every October in Blowing Rock.

Each October, we will be hosting a long weekend of events highlighting the history and culture of our mountain community.  Some of these events are scary. Some are educational.  All these are fun, safe, and engaging with opportunities for the entire family.  We are especially fortunate to create this experience with a broad range of community partners from across Mitchell County.

Mitchell County Animal Rescue Inc. is a non-profit humane society formed in 1984. We operate the county animal shelter, have adoption, humane education and low-cost spay/neuter programs.

Neighbors Feeding Neighbors Food Ministy gives food to those in need of food without judgment. We also give items to house fire victims, homeless and anyone in need. NFN is trying to make a positive influence in our communty. We have bible study and community meals.
