Member Since January 2018, The Ethnic Enrichment Commission of Kansas City was created in 1980 under the direction of Mayor Berkley, brother to the International Relations Council's founder Elliot Berkley, as a vehicle to encourage a better understanding ethnic identity by promoting the preservation of ethnic culture, language, customs, music and folk dance. Its most well known event, the Ethnic Enrichment Festival, is held the third full weekend of August in Swope Park.
