As tobacco use rates decline, data points to an alarming amount of Coloradans using electronic cigarettes or vaporizers for nicotine dependence. This webinar provides a foundation for housing providers who are interested in learning about the rising use of electronic cigarettes and vaporizers in Colorado, as well as its implications for smoke-free policies in multiunit housing.
In this webinar, housing providers will learn about the various devices in the current marketplace, common terminology, potential health risks and other hazards associated with these products. We will cover Colorado-specific data and discuss the importance of including such devices in smoke-free policies.

As a Health Program Specialist on the Chronic Disease Tobacco Team at Denver Public Health, Teddy Montoya serves as the primary point of contact for smoke-free multiunit housing policy implementation in Denver County. He provides technical assistance statewide for the Colorado Smoke-Free Multiunit Housing Technical Assistance Grant. Teddy focuses on cross collaboration between housing providers and local public health agencies as it relates to smoke-free policy.
A colleague on the same team, Peggy Sarcomo's expertise is in implementing and strengthening smoke-free policies for multiunit housing; tobacco cessation; and reducing exposure to secondhand smoke. Peggy provides resources, training and technical assistance to local public health departments and housing providers across Colorado. Additionally, Peggy works closely with an attorney specializing in multiunit housing to educate attorneys and mediators in Colorado on smoke-free policies and other laws and regulations regarding multiunit housing. Peggy holds a Bachelor's degree in Public Health Promotion and is a current Masters Candidate in Public Health and Nutrition. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist (CTTS).
