Details
Dates: 31st August and 1st September 6-10pm NZST (please note you are signing up for both workshop dates as this is being delivered in two parts due to time difference with the UK).

The workshops will cover the characteristics that are common amongst adults who set fires and the similarities and differences between firesetting adults and people that commit other types of crimes. Theoretical explanations of deliberate firesetting will be discussed, including the most recent comprehensive theory: the Multi-Trajectory Theory of Adult Firesetting (M-TTAF; Gannon, Ó Ciardha, Doley, & Alleyne, 2012). In addition, best practice approaches to the assessment of clinical needs, risk assessment, and treatment with this population will be explored. The workshops will also provide attendees with the practical knowledge to be able to successfully deliver either the FIPP (for prisons) or the FIP-MO (for forensic mental health settings) specialist treatment programmes for adult deliberate firesetting within their own service. Please note: To be able to deliver either the FIP-MO or FIPP programme, involvement of a registered practitioner (e.g., psychologist) is required.

The training includes a copy of either the FIP-MO or FIPP manual for all delegates along with all reading and training materials to enable them to run the programme. Delegates select in advance which programme manual they would like to receive as part of the training to meet their professional needs.
