This workshop will provide techniques for dealing with problems of literary translation, whatever the original language. Among the topics covered:

- preparing to translate

- dealing with the author (if alive)

- style, tone, and voice

- dialects, regionalisms, and wordplay

- foreignization vs. domestication

- terminology and useful tools.
