ISO/TC 37/SC 5 - Translation, interpreting and related technology – develops standards in the field of translation, interpreting, as well as translation and interpreting related technology, technical writing, content management, localization, globalization and internationalization. ISO/TC 37/SC 5 has published 18 standards, with more in development. ISO technical committees consist of experts from around the globe, working together to improve the industry and conditions for stakeholders and consumers.

 

Since 2010, Angela Sasso has been an expert at the ISO/TC 37/SC 5 table, and in 2021 became the International convenor of WG4 - Interpreting and translation teaching and training programs. The committee is currently developing a standard on requirements for educators and training programs in community interpreting.

About the presenter: 

 

In 1989 Angela began working as an interpreter in community and health care settings. She has since held positions as a senior level manager, interpreter educator, researcher, program manager, policy developer and expert consultant with various governmental and non-governmental organizations in the area of language services and equitable access.

 

Ms. Sasso is the President of Critical Link International, and Canadian Vice Chair of ISO TC 37/SC 5 Translation, interpreting and related technologies, as well as the International Convenor and Project Leader of ISO TC 37/SC 5/ WG4 Interpreting and translation teaching and training programs, and past Co-Chair of National Standard Council of Canada - Health Standards Organizations' Access to Health and Social Services in Official Languages.
