Ever wondered what goes on ‘Behind the Scenes' at the Glengarry Pioneer Museum?  The museum is a beehive of activity leading up to the opening weekend. Much goes on in order to make our season a success.

Everyone is invited to attend a sneak peek open house on May 5th at the museum from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. FREE admission.

This is two weeks before the official opening, so you may have a chance to try your hand at completing an exhibit, cleaning artifacts, or chatting with the gardening volunteers! Visitors who come to the museum on this day can casually tour six different stations which will highlight the work that goes on ‘Behind the Scenes'.   Stations will include Collections Management, Conservation, Maintenance, Education, Exhibits and Community/Events.   Each station will be hosted by volunteers from the Museum board and from the community.

Below are a few of the activities that you can find out about or participate in:
- Visit the Welcome area to meet Museum volunteers and view Museum event displays.
- Enjoy some complementary refreshments and musical entertainment.
- Discover what goes on when artifacts are acquired, documented, cataloged and stored.
- Watch a demonstration of an artifact being preserved and try your hand at preservation.
- Learn how themed exhibits are planned and designed and participate in setting it up.
- Assist with heritage building window repairs and other tasks with the maintenance teams.
- Observe Native and Historical plants in the Heritage Garden and find out how to grow them.
You may be able to buy a plant to take home.
- Learn about the planning and tasks that go into the hosting of community and special events.
