CCW Event - Virtual Mentorship Round Table

Please join us for an exciting virtual mentorship event on September 24th! We want to provide you an opportunity to connect with women with diverse backgrounds and expertise and to leave with several helpful insights and meaningful connections. Attendees will benefit from the information, resources and wisdom of four different mentors in our industry sharing their top 3 tips for balancing personal life and career. 


Who:  Our mentors include:

LIBBY ROWE is the Manager of Business Development at Turner Construction. She has held this role for 2 years, and brought to it 11 years of operations project management experience. When she is not working, she is usually with her children who are 8, 6 and 3 years old and keep her very busy. Sometimes she sneaks away and you can find her running, gardening or reading a book. Libby played an active role in Canadian Construction Women between 2008 – 2016 holding roles as Programs Director, Vice President, President and Past President. In 2016 she was awarded VRCA's Outstanding Woman in Construction. Some of the projects Libby has been involved in include the Vancouver Convention Center Expansion Project, Surrey Pre-Trial Center, Oakridge Redevelopment Project, McCarthy Tetrault Fit-out, Miller Thomson Fit-out and CAPCOM Fit-out and several Healthcare pursuits. Trained as a Materials Engineer with a Bachelors and Masters degree from the University of Toronto, Libby's shift in career towards construction and project management was driven by a passion for architecture and design, a desire to be part of the creative process and the development process, an interest in systems and processes, a love of people and teamwork and a love of projects and problem solving. Libby is deeply committed to positively impacting the lives of her team, her clients and she hopes the occupants of the buildings that she is part of. She strongly believes that people are significantly impacted by the space and environment that surrounds them so you can move towards a better world by creating inspiring environments that recognize each individuals well-being and bring people joy.



MARION LARUE, Principal at DIALOG. Marion joined DIALOG in 2013, bringing extensive leadership experience to DIALOG's complex architectural projects. She has worked in Toronto, Los Angeles and Vancouver. Her areas of expertise are sports, recreation, public, and institutional projects, with a focus on design, management, and procurement. Marion is the Studio Managing Principal for DIALOG Vancouver and sits on the national Leadership Team for DIALOG. Marion is dedicated to helping establish and evolve the design and business vision. You can expect a warm, collegial design experience with rigorous attention to detail when working with her. Marion is a passionate advocate for the advancement of women in our industry, and she is a champion and mentor for young women designers who leads by example. Marion supports open workplace discussions on gender issues and hopes to build a revolutionary standard for gender neutrality across our entire team. Marion is passionate about creating environments that inspire people to take ownership of their health and wellbeing. She enjoys working collaboratively with clients to deliver spaces and solutions that support and promote healthy, balanced lifestyles. Her mission has taken shape through her work on seminal projects such as the LEED® Silver Richmond Olympic Oval. The oval was the official speed skating venue for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, and has won 35 global awards. In alignment with her vision for healthier future generations, Marion is currently delivering the architectural design for the North Shore Waste Water Treatment Plant for Metro Vancouver. She is also working on the Student Residences and Dining Commons for Simon Fraser University, the Vivo for Healthier Generations recreation centre in Calgary, a student housing facility for North Island College on Vancouver Island, and sports feasibility studies for the City of Calgary.

STEPHANIE HAMMAR, Principal at Integral Group specializing in the integration of mechanical systems design through an interdisciplinary process. With over 17 years of experience working in the building services industry, she has gained considerable knowledge in her area of expertise. Stephanie has worked on a variety of building types including schools, museums, office towers, residential and commercial. She is specialized in both the institutional and aviation sector with a focus at the Vancouver Airport (YVR) which has been awarded North America's best airport for the past ten years. She utilizes her depth of knowledge within the institutional sector to engage stakeholders to collectively find solutions to meet departmental needs. Stephanie is a champion within the industry to attract and retain both women and diversity throughout the sector.  She is a member and mentor with WCE, and led the charge with her firm Integral Group to create a Parental Leave Global Policy.  In her free time she enjoys jogging, gardening and spending time with her four year old son and husband. 


ALICIA MILTON, Director of Program Management at Ledcor Technical Services, she is a leader in building and servicing communication networks across North America. Alicia leads many of the supporting functions for Western Canadian operations, including commercial management, business analytics, quality, risk management and more.  In her role she has the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with many leaders in the company and industry, and plays a key role in supporting strategic decision making and improving business processes. Alicia is a Chartered Professional Accountant and started her career in finance at a private equity firm in 2004. In 2008 she moved to Bell Mobility where she had the opportunity to work on the Olympic network build.  This experience was her introduction to the telecommunications space, and eventually led her to Ledcor in 2012 where she held numerous roles on the finance team prior to moving to operations in 2019. Alicia leads an active lifestyle in North Vancouver where she lives with her husband, Nick, daughter, Clara and goldendoodle, Penny. 

What: A round table speed mentoring format – Attendees will be given a summary of the "top 3" each mentor before the event to prepare questions and get to know the mentors. Each mentor will spend 15-20 minutes to share their "TOP 3" advice followed by a breakout room discussion and Q&A session.
