CCW Follow-Up Site Tour - Lions Gate Hospital Power Plant Replacement
Join us for a follow-up site tour of the Lions Gate Hospital Power Plant Replacement project in the FINAL STAGES in North Vancouver on Tuesday, February 25th!
The Lions Gate Hospital Power Plant project consists of the construction of a new underground power plant, followed by the demolition of the existing plant. The new 4,575 sq. ft. power plant will be built in preparation for the new acute care tower and involves a large mechanical scope of work. Numerous considerations were taken into account to coordinate construction activities; the protection required on the existing glazing, noise mitigation for the hospital staff and the local community, and the requirement of the nearby roadway to be accessible for
weekly tank filling. Fibre optic cables and gas mains had to be relocated, an existing storm and sanitary line needed to be removed and capped at the power plant footprint, and the existing water service was required to be rerouted.

Forecast Completion Date: March 2020
Utilizing a 500 tonne crane to install a 39.5-meter chimney stack
Construction consisted of shotcrete walls directly against the soil retention system
Entire building is waterproofed utilizing an EPRO waterproofing system
Please note: Full personal protective equipment, including CSA approved safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves and high visibility vest are required in order to attend the tour. Anyone not in possession of these items will not be permitted to walk the site.

5.30pm - 6pm – Registration on site. The site office address: 241 East 13th street, North Vancouver. All attendees should access the site from Gate 4 on 13th Street.
6pm – 6.10pm – Safety orientation and project introduction at the site office.
6.10pm – 7pm – Site tour
7.00pm – 8.30pm – Dinner at Jack Lonsdale's Public House, 127-1433 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver, BC V7M 2H9. PLEASE NOTE: The Restaurant is 6 minutes walk from the site tour location.
