CCW Event - Mentorship RoundtablePlease join us for an exciting mentorship event on October 22nd! We want to provide you an opportunity to connect with women with diverse backgrounds and expertise and to leave with several helpful insights and meaningful connections. Attendees will benefit from the information, resources and wisdom of five different mentors in our industry sharing everything including books, wellness habits, tips for balancing work and family, and tips for networking, etc. Please note: the attendees for this event will have advance registration for our Winter Social event in November!Who: Five mentors will share their "TOP 3" advice for Women in Construction. Our mentors include:LIBBY ROWE is the Business Development Manager at Turner Construction. She has worked in the construction industry for 13 years in various operations roles. She is a project manager, an engineer, a team-builder, an innovator, a teacher, a designer, a creative, a writer, an athlete a nurturer, a connector and currently working on her qualifications as a short-order cook, homework helper, reader and driver for her three young children (aged 7,5 and 2).AOIBHÍN (A-VEEN) GORMLEY is an Estimator/Project Manager at NorLand Limited. Her career in construction started in Northern Ireland almost 10 years ago. As a student engineer, in consulting and contracting career opportunities, she focused on land development and water infrastructure projects with revenues in the $10M range. In 2018 she immigrated to Canada and joined the NorLand family. As project manager for the excavation and shoring division, Aoibhín is part of a team that is committed to minimizing environmental impact while safely and efficiently completing multi-million-dollar projects on time and on budget. As a passionate young professional, in 2012 she traveled to Romania with Engineers without Borders and Habitat for Humanity to help build homes for those less fortunate.MARIE-FRANCE VENNERI is a Principal at AME Group. She graduated from the University of Toronto in 2004 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering. She began her career as an engineering sales representative in Montreal and then moved out to Vancouver in 2006 where she shifted her career into Consulting. She joined AME back in 2010 and has grown with the firm now being in a Principal role and leading a team. Marie has a breadth of experience in Residential, Commercial, Tenant Improvements, Institutional, and Cultural Buildings, where she has been involved in the concept designs, developing contract documents, reviewing the construction on-site to supporting the commissioning phase. Marie strongly believes in collaboration, understanding the design intent and the Client's needs. During all phases of the project, she ensures the design quality is maintained and there is consistent communication.NICOLETTE (NICKI) WILSON is the Corporate Safety Coordinator at NorLand Limited. Her career in safety spans almost three decades. By 1998 she was the Safety Officer for the Thunderbird Entertainment Complex in Langley. Her duties included all safety and first aid meetings and orientation for more than 400 contracted workers. A decade later her role expanded to include LEED reports, developing hazardous waste manuals and programs, employee booklets, COR audits, Back-to-Work programs and WSBC claims. Today, Nicki is the Corporate Safety Coordinator at NorLand for more than 700 employees. Her career at NorLand spans 6 years. In addition to site safety inspections, she coordinates and maintains the corporate safety program, performs safety audits and is the troubleshooter for all 14 company divisions. What: A roundtable speed mentoring format – Attendees will be given a program booklets before the event to prepare questions and get to know the mentors.
