The Canadian Electrical Installation Standards™ (CEIS™) have been adopted from the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) National Electrical Installation Standards™ (NEIS™) in the United States. These NEIS™ have been reviewed by a Canadian technical committee assembled to Canadianize the standards by referencing the requirements of CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I (CEC, Part I), published by CSA Group, and the methods used for electrical installations across Canada and to find opportunities to harmonize with the United States, where possible.
CEIS™ are intended to improve communication and consistency among designers, engineers, general contractors, specifiers, purchasers, and suppliers of electrical construction services. They define a minimum baseline of quality and workmanship for installing electrical products and systems. CEIS™ are intended to be referenced in contract documents for electrical construction projects.
