CCW March Speaker Event: Danica Djurkovic, AIBC

Please join us March 31, 2022 at 5:30 PM to take part in our March Speaker Event featuring Danica Djurkovic.

Danica has recently stepped in to the role of Vice President, Campus Planning & Facilities at BCIT, and previously served as Director of Facilities Planning and Development at the City of Vancouver. During her time at the City of Vancouver, Danica and her team developed leading practices in planning and development of facilities and  were awarded multiple industry awards including the 2020 Canada Green Building Council Government Leadership Award which recognizes achievements in forward vision, strategies, planning, and development of City owned facilities.

Amongst her vast experience, Danica was the first woman immigrant elected for the President of the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) to her list roles she has taken on. During her time as President, Danica elevated the institute and contributed to the profession of architecture across the country and even around the world, as evidenced by the signing of the mutual recognition agreement with the European Union.

Danica studied Architecture and Urbanism the University of Sarajevo and has since led a career that has allowed her to work and contribute her practice in the private, non-profit, and public sector for 30 years. She has described her personal approach as open, collaborative, transparent, inclusive, and results driven, enhanced by a high level of professionalism and integrity with a particular focus on community benefit. It is for all of these reasons that CCW is proud to host Danica  as she shares with our members her experience in leadership and what skills and experiences contributed to her success as a female leader.
