Renovation of Fernandina Beach Middle School auditorium
The Nassau County School District finished extensive renovation and remodeling of the Fernandina Beach Middle School auditorium in January. Complete with new, theatrical-style seating, state-of-the-art lighting for the stage and house, and a new control booth for sound and lighting, the auditorium has been transformed into an exciting new venue for school productions.

First natural gas customer in Nassau County
FPU and Tampa-based TECO Peoples Gas have joined forces to bring natural gas service to Nassau County and Amelia Island for the first time. The companies will install a 33-mile-long natural gas pipeline that connects the Peoples Gas Jacksonville system with RockTenn's containerboard-manufacturing mill in Fernandina Beach. FPU also is installing the gas-distribution system to serve the rest of the community, including its first natural gas customer, the Residence Inn Amelia Island.
